  1. Today MUHARRAM is celebrated as New Year’s Day among the Muslim community across the globe. However, the Shias mourn on this day while Sunnis observe fasting for the entire day.
  2. Both the House of Parliament adjourned Sine Die today, four days ahead of the schedule. The Monsoon Session of Parliament, which commenced on the 18th of last month, was scheduled to end on the 12th of this month.
  3. Parliament has passed the Central Universities (Amendment) Bill 2022 with the Rajya Sabha approving it with a voice vote. The Lok Sabha had already passed the Bill. The Bill seeks to amend the Central Universities Act, 2009, which provides for establishing central universities in various states.
  4. Rajya Sabha bids farewell to Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu on completion of his term. PM Modi said, 177 bills were either passed or discussed in the House during Mr Naidu’s tenure.
  5. National Testing Agency has declared the final scores for Joint Entrance Examination- JEE (Main) – 2022 for Paper -1 (B.E. and B.Tech.). NTA Score and Result for Paper 2-A (B.Arch.) and Paper 2-B (B. Planning) will be declared separately.
  6. The second phase of the UGC-NET examination has been postponed and will now be conducted between September 20 and 30, UGC Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said. Earlier, it was scheduled to be held between August 12 and 14
