- ANDHRA PRADESH: The Budget Sessions of the AP Assembly will be stormy with the principal opposition, the Telugu Desam, deciding to end their boycott even as its leader Chandrababu Naidu will stay away this time too. The session starts on March 7.
- CHANDIGARH traffic police’s Road Safety Awareness Week 2022 concluded with a two-wheeler rally on Saturday. The initiative was aimed at highlighting the importance of helmets for women. Around 200 women two-wheeler riders took part in the rally and displayed slogans on road safety. Special awareness workshops were organised in various colonies of the city and nearby villages.
- DELHI : BJP leader Priya Chaudhary and Congress leader Pawan Sharma joined the Aam Aadmi Party at an event in Delhi on Sunday and were welcomed by AAP leader Durgesh Patha.
- HIMACHAL : A mobile dental van worth ₹34.53 lakh was launched in Himachal Pradesh on the occasion of National Dentist’s Day on Sunday. CM Jairam Thakur, who flagged off the van, said it would help in organising dental treatment camps at schools and other far-flung areas where facilities weren’t available. The van is equipped with a fully-automatic chair and other accessories.

- Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday inaugurated a regional forensic science laboratory in Hubballi. He said that DNA, Cyber, Mobile, Documentation and Audio-Video sections have been already opened here but there’s a need to establish a Narcotics section. He further said that Hubballi and Ballari FSLs were announced in the previous budget, now they’ve become a reality within a year.
- KERALA: A special immunization drive will be held to cover pregnant women and children who have not received periodical vaccinations under the National Immunization Programme during the pandemic spell.
- MAHARASHTRA : PM Modi on 07 Mar unveiled a statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the premises of Pune Municipal Corporation.
The statue is made up of 1,850 kg of gunmetal and is about 9.5-feet tall. - RAJASTHAN: A local Jaipur court has issued notices to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Chief Whip Mahesh Joshi and others in the 2020 phone-tapping case. They have been summoned to appear before the court on March 16. The notices were issued on a revision petition filed by advocate OP Solanki.
- TELANGANA: Social Welfare Minister K. Eshwar has assured that the State govt will extend necessary help for the transgender community and resolve their issues. Interacting with them in Hyderabad yesterday, he assured that he will bring the problems being faced by the community to the notice of the Chief Minister and resolve them at the earliest.
- The Telangana state Cabinet, approved the Budget for 2022-23 that will be presented in the Legislative Assembly on 07 Mar, Monday. CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao reportedly discussed several issues with regard to allocating funds to different sectors with the Cabinet. Finance minister T. Harish Rao will present the Budget in the Assembly.
- TRIPURA govt is planning to convert the old Central Jail compound into a library named after Bangladesh’s father of the nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The former Bangladesh PM had, according to historians, spent a night at the complex during Bangladesh’s liberation war before meeting the then Tripura CM. The govt is expected to defer the mega initial public offering (IPO) of LIC to the next financial year as the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war has dampened fund managers’ interest in the public issue, market experts said on 06 Mar(Sunday). The government was looking to sell 5 per cent stake in Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) this month, which could have fetched over Rs 60,000 crore to the exchequer.

- CISF celebrates its 53rd Raising Day on 10th March; Home minister Amit Shah lauded the role of CISF personnel during the coronavirus pandemic, for risking their lives and taking care of fellow Indians who were returning from abroad.
- Indian Navy successfully demonstrated the accuracy of an extended-range land-attack Brahmos supersonic cruise missile from the stealth destroyer INS Chennai on 05 Mar. The missile hit its intended target with pinpoint accuracy after traversing an extended range trajectory and performing complex manoeuvres.
- Security forces on 06 Mar, Sunday arrested an active terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) from Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. Upon seeing an intensive security check, the terrorist tried to escape but was challenged and later caught, the police said. The terrorist has been identified as Mohammad Altaf Wani, a resident of Shopian’s Keegam village.
- The Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) is going to organise ‘Desh Ki Hifazat-Desh Ki Suraksha’ programme from March 6 to 13 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. Various programmes like honouring martyrs’ families and band displays will be organised on the occasion, a press release by the ITBP said.

Over 15,900 Indians brought back from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries under Operation Ganga so far. - On 06 Mar, External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar has said that another 13 flights under Operation Ganga will bring home 2500 Indian nationals stranded in war-torn Ukraine.
- BANGLADESH PM Sheikh Hasina has said that her govt has a plan to ensure a better life for stranded Biharis considering the humanitarian ground despite the fact that they had chosen to go to Pakistan after independence of Bangladesh in 1971.

- The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting on Monday on the humanitarian crisis triggered in Ukraine as the Russian military operations intensifies.
- The head of the United Nations’ refugee agency has said that more than 1.5 million refugees have crossed from Ukraine into neighboring countries since Russian military operation. The High Commissioner of UN is currently Mr. Antonio Guterres,
- PICUS payments firms Visa and Mastercard said they are suspending operations in Russia over the Ukraine issue. Two companies said, they will work with their clients and partners to cease all transactions in Russia.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin on 05 Mar warned that Ukraine’s statehood is in jeopardy as he also likened the West’s sanctions on Russia to “declaring war.” He also hit out at Western sanctions that have affected Russia’s economy and sent the value of its currency tumbling.
- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday (March 6) that Russia destroyed a civilian airport in Ukraine’s Vinnytsia. He said that a barrage of Russian missiles has destroyed the airport.
- Amid the Ukraine-Russian conflict, weapons makers from the two countries displayed their military hardware at the World Defense Show in Saudi Arabia. Ukraine is showcasing Kozark 7 and Kozark 2M tactical armoured vehicles and anti-drone systems at the show. Meanwhile, displays from Russian weapons makers included anti-aircraft weapons and air defence systems.
- China sets GDP growth target at ‘around 5.5%’ in 2022 amid ‘triple pressures’ on economy, defense spending up by 7.1%.
- The country aims for an urban unemployment rate “within 5.5 percent” for the year, according to the work report. China’s defense budget will increase by 7.1% to 1.45 trillion yuan (US$237 billion), faster than the 6.8% increase in 2021 and 6.6% climb in 2020, according to the govt finance report.
