- India’s COVID Vaccination Drive covers over 164.96 crore doses. Health Ministry said that over 93 crore 67 lakh vaccine doses have been administered as first dose and more than 70 crore 19 lakh vaccine doses given as second doses.
- Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya has said that more than 60% children in the age group of 15 to 18 have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
- Ahead of the Budget Session of Parliament which is to begin from 31st of January, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, inspected various facilities in Parliament House Complex on Friday.
- Digital Sansad App has been launched to improve the digital footprint of the Lok Sabha and to connect people to Parliament.

- Union Minister for Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh on Friday said that Indian StartUp “Botlab”, funded by Technology Development Board (TDB) under Union Ministry of Science and Technology and led by IIT Delhi alumni, will fly 1,000 Drones in “Beating Retreat” ceremony. This will make India the fourth country, after China, Russia and UK, to carry out such a large-scale show with 1,000 drones.
- The Supreme Court Friday refused to “lay down any yardstick” for granting reservation in promotion to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in government jobs. A three-judge bench headed by Justice Nageswara Rao said states are obligated to collect data on inadequacy of representation of SCs/STs.
- Andhra Pradesh : CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on 27 Jan launched a citizen services portal called ‘AP Seva 2.0’ to provide a series of services even to people in remote villages across the state in a speedy and transparent manner and ensuring accountability.

Arunachal CM Pema Khandu tweeted announced. He said thst “General Bipin Rawat Ji will always be remembered for his extraordinary contribution in bolstering India’s defence. In his honour, the Walong-Kibithu road in Arunachal will be named after him, where he rendered his valuable service as Commanding Officer of 5/11 Gorkha Rifles,” In addition to this, the General Bipin Rawat Hall of Raj Bhawan, Itanagar was also dedicated to the people of Arunachal Pradesh in the virtual presence of the late General’s daughters Kritika and Tarini Rawat on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day.
- KARNATAKA : Veteran Bharatiya Janata Party leader BS Yediyurappa’s grand daughter Soundarya was found hanging at her flat Vasanth Nagar in Bengaluru on Friday. She was 30. Soundarya was a practising doctor MS Ramaiah hospital in Bengaluru. She was married to Dr Neeraj S, who works in the same hospital, in 2018 and they have a six-month-old child. Reports suggested that she was suffering from post-pregnancy depression.

- The upcoming Union Budget that is scheduled to happen on February 1, 2022, in many reports and by the economy experts has termed it as “Growth Budget”.
- According to the National Statistical Office’s First Advance Estimates of GDP, the economy is expected to grow at a 9.2% annual rate in FY22. The GDP level at the end of FY22 will be quite close to the level at the end of FY20.
- The key imperatives for the Indian Government in the formulation of the Union Budget 2022 must be on three fronts:
(i). Supporting bottom-of-the-pyramid households to address some consumption-related challenges.
(Ii) . Pump-priming the economy through higher capital expenditure Supporting MSMEs

- NEW APPOINTMENT : Dr V Anantha Nageswaran as the Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) for the Union Finance Ministry. He has also been a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India from 2019 to 2021.

- PM Modi has stressed that Indian music should make its global identity. He was speaking at the launch of Pandit Jasraj Cultural Foundation through video conferencing on Friday. He paid tribute to Pandit Jasraj on the occasion of birth anniversary of the doyen of Indian Classical Music.

- PM Modi addressed the National Cadet Corps Rally at Cariappa Ground. The Prime Minister inspected the Guard of Honour, reviewed March Past by NCC contingents and also witnessed the NCC cadets displaying their skills in army action, slithering, microlight flying, parasailing as well as cultural programmes. The best cadets also received medal and baton from the Prime Minister.
- The Maharashtra Directorate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) won the Prime Minister’s Banner at the Republic Day camp, the Defence ministry said in a statement on Friday. The state had last won the PM’s banner in 2014, it was stated.
- Army trainer aircraft crashes near Gaya; both pilots safe. The crash takes place in the fields adjoining a village under Bodh Gaya block, when the pilots try to make an emergency landing.
- The BSF on Friday foiled a cross-border drug smuggling bid and recovered 58 kg heroin after an exchange of fire with Pakistani smugglers along the Indo-Pak border in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district that also left a force personnel injured, police said.
- The two indigenously made Advance Light Helicopters ALH-DHRUV MK III inducted in Navy, the fleet of Andaman Nicobar Command in Port Blair.

- India got its first ever export order for BrahMos missiles on Friday when the Philippines’ Defence Ministry signed USD 374 million contract with the BrahMos Aerospace Pvt Ltd (BAPL) to supply undisclosed number of missiles.
- At the first ever India-Central Asia Summit held virtually on 27 Jan to take ties to “new heights”, PM Modi and the Presidents of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic and Turkmenistan decided to strengthen trade links and connectivity through the Iranian port of Chabahar that is being developed by India and provides sea-land access to land-locked Central Asia and the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
- India and China agreed at the previous round of corps commander-level talks to stay in close contact and maintain dialogue via military and diplomatic channels to work out a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues related to the line of actual control (LAC) in the western sector at the earliest, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said.
- Chinese Army hands over missing Arunachal boy to Indian Army: . China’s People’s Liberation Army has handed over the missing teenager from Arunachal Pradesh to the Indian Army. The youth, Miram Taron, was handed over to the Indian Army at the Wacha-Damai border meeting point in far-eastern Arunachal Pradesh.

- Rwanda will reopen its main border with Uganda on Monday, authorities announced on 28 Jan. It abruptly closed the Gatuna-Katuna border in 2019, after accusing Uganda of abducting Rwandans and supporting rebels seeking to topple President Paul Kagame.
- China has announced plans to build a space centre and satellites for Pakistan as part of its efforts to boost space cooperation with its ally. Pakistan was mentioned many times in a white paper titled “China’s Space Programme: A 2021 Perspective”, released by China’s State Council. In 2018, China had helped Pakistan to launch two satellites.
- Russian President Vladimir Putin has told French President Emmanuel Macron that the West had not addressed Russia’s main security demands amid tensions over Ukraine. Avoiding NATO expansion and not deploying offensive weapons near Russia’s borders were among the concerns mentioned in an official statement about the conversation. Russia has massed its troop near the border with Ukraine.
- United Nations World Food Programme said that more than one-third of population of Ethiopia’s Tigray are suffering an “extreme lack of food” due to the federal government blockade. The UN also called on all parties in the ongoing 15-month war between the government and Tigrayan rebels to agree to humanitarian ceasefire and “formally agreed transport corridors” for aid.
- Kazakhstan’s ruling party, Nur Otan on Friday elected President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as its Chairman.
