  3. Miscreants opened fire in Agra’s Sarafa market. The accused tried to rob a shop owner, but as other shopkeepers tried to stop them, they opened fire in the market, injuring six.
  4. National Investigation Agency (NIA) has told a special court that Karnataka BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru was murdered by the Popular Front of India’s (PFI) “killer squad”. The NIA has chargesheeted 20 people in the case.

  1. Recently, the Bombay High Court quashed the write-off of Additional Tier-1 (AT1) bonds worth Rs 8,400 crore issued by Yes Bank Ltd, bringing relief to investors.
    • These bonds are unsecured bonds that have perpetual tenors, are issued by banks and have no maturity date.
  2. NATIONAL COAL INDEX, Coal Ministry Offered relaxation in the Revision of the Performance Bank Guarantee and extended Bid due date for the Commercial Coal Block auction up to January 30.
    • During the launching of the sixth-round commercial coal mines’ auction for 141 coal mines, the ministry of Coal decided to annually revise the Performance Bank Guarantee (PBG) based on the National Coal Index (NCI) for April at the beginning of the year 2023.
  3. Recently Central Government decided to give an additional ₹2,000 crore to States under the Special Assistance for Capital Investment scheme to incentivise them to scrap old vehicles and also provide tax concessions to individuals for it.
    • Under this Scheme, financial assistance is provided to the States Governments in the form of a 50-year interest free loan for capital investment projects.

      🇮🇳 FACTS ABOUT INDIA 🇮🇳

      Nagarjuna Sagar Dam is a masonry dam across the Krishna River at Nagarjuna Sagar which straddles the border between Nalgonda district in Telangana and Guntur district in Andhra Pradesh Constructed between 1955 and 1967, the dam created a water reservoir with gross storage capacity of 11.472 billion cubic metres (405.1×109 cu ft). The dam is 490 feet (150 m) tall from its deepest foundation and 0.99 miles (1.6 km) long with 26 flood gates which are 42 feet (13 m) wide and 45 feet (14 m) tall. It is jointly operated by Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The Nizam made the British engineers begin the survey work for this dam across the Krishna River in the year 1903.
