  1. India’s Covid vaccination coverage has crossed 138 crore 89 lakh mark. Out of the total vaccination, more than 82 crore 97 lakh vaccine doses have been administered as first dose, while over 55 crore 91 lakh doses have been administered as second dose.
  2. Health and Family Welfare Ministry has said that Covid variant Omicron is three times more transmissible than the Delta variant. Centre has advised the States and Union Territories to activate the War rooms and keep taking proactive action at the district or local level.
  3. PM Modi transfers Rs 1000 crore in bank account of SHGs benefiting around 16 lakh women, says Security, respect ensured by double-engine govt for the women. In this endeavour to support women, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units and transferred an amount of 1000 crore rupees in the bank account of Self Help Groups (SHGs), benefitting around 16 lakh women members of the SHGs. The programme also witnessed the PM encouraging Business Correspondent-Sakhis (B.C.-Sakhis), by transferring. 4000 rupees as first month’s stipend in account of 20,000 B.C.-Sakhis.
  4. He also transfers over 20 crore rupees to more than one lakh beneficiaries under Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme.
  5. Parliament passes the Election Laws (Amendment) Bill to link electoral rolls data with Aadhar.
  6. The Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill 2021 which seeks to enhance the legal minimum age of marriage of a girl from 18 to 21 across all religion was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
  7. Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has ordered blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two websites spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news on the internet. The channels were used to post divisive content in a coordinated manner on topics like Kashmir, Indian Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat among others.
  8. Prez Kovind addresses fifth Convocation at Central University of Kerala, says ‘New Education Policy’ aims to promote inclusion and excellence. The President conferred degrees and diplomas to 742 students on the occasion.
  9. KERALA High Court dismissed a plea to remove PM Modi’s photo from COVID vaccine certificates issued via the CoWIN portal. The Court also imposed costs of one lakh rupees on the petitioner stating that the plea is frivolous and seems to have been filed with political motives.
  10. MAHARASHTRA State Road Transport Corporation -MSRTC workers union has called off their 54-day old strike after state Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Anil Parab gave them assurance to look into their demands.
  11. MANIPUR , CM N. Biren Singh officially launched IT Enable Mega Convergence of Health-Nutrition-Education at Imphal. The CM also announced that the honorariums of ASHAs and Anganwadi Workers would be increased by rupees one thousand while the honorarium of Anganwadi Helpers would be increased by rupees five hundred.
  12. Former Congress leader from PUNJAB Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi joined BJP at party headquarters in New Delhi. He joined the party in the presence of Union Ministers Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Bhupendra Yadav.
  13. WEST BENGAL , at least three persons have been feared killed and another 40 got seriously injured in a massive fire at the Haldia Indian Oil Corporation refinery.

The Trinamool Congress on 21 Dec retained power in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation for the third time, with its candidates emerging triumphant in the 101 out of the 144 wards, while leading in 33 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has won one seat and was leading in three wards, according to State Election Commission.

  1. Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer ’83’ has been declared tax-free in Delhi. The film, which is based on the Kapil Dev-led Indian cricket team’s 1983 World Cup victory, is set to release in theatres on December 24.   2. The Bombay High Court has refused bail to actor Armaan Kohli, arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for alleged possession and consumption of drugs. Kohli was arrested in August this year for possession of 1.2 grams of cocaine,

  1. Indian Army Chief General Manoj Mukund Naravane on 21 December, flagged off and inducted the first set of indigenously developed next-generation Armoured Engineer Reconnaissance Vehicles and other equipment into the Corps of Engineers, at Bombay Engineering Group (BEG) in Pune.
  2. Indian Army set to induct new ‘Made in India’ landmines at Pak, China borders: The Indian Army will soon welcome a new range of landmines which includes Nipun, Vibhav, Vishal, Prachand and Uluk to blast off enemy troops and terrorists trying to step onto Indian soil at the borders.
  3. The Indian Air Force (IAF) is deploying the first squadron of the S-400 air defence missile system in the Punjab sector. The S-400 air defence system was contracted for by India in a deal worth around Rs 35,000 crore and five squadrons would be provided to India for tacking air threats from up to 400 km.
  4. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility Aircraft Upgrade Research & Design Centre (AURDC) has launched a new upgrade programme for MiG-29K of Indian Navy to enhance its lethality through the integration of Laser Pod and new laser guided bomb.

NOTIFICATION
(a). The Indian Army has released a notification on the official website- joinindianarmy.nic.in. As per the notification, the 135th TGC will commence in July 2022 at the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun. Interested and eligible candidates need to note that the last date to apply for this recruitment drive is till January 4, 2022 (3 PM).

Note : Candidates need to have been born between July 2, 1995, and July 1 2002.

(b). Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has issued notification for the recruitment of Head Constable GD Recruitment 2022. The application process starts on December 20, 2021. Last date to apply is March 31, 2022 by 5 pm

  4. The Ministry of External Affairs assured the early release of all fishermen detained by the Sri Lankan authorities. The Sri Lankan Navy has detained 13 more Indian fishermen from Tamil Nadu and seized their boats allegedly claiming that they had crossed the maritime border.
