- PM Modi will confer Awards for Excellence in Public Administration 2021 on Civil Services Day today. - Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal said that India has the potential to achieve one trillion dollar merchandise and services exports each by 2030. Addressing the ‘21st Civil Services Day – 2022, Plenary Session on Aatmanirbhar Bharat – Focus on Exports’ in New Delhi.
- ASSAM and Arunachal Pradesh decided to form 12 District-Level Committees in both the states to resolve border disputes. This decision was taken during the second Chief Ministers Level Meeting held in Guwahati on 20 Apr.
- DELHI : The Supreme Court ordered a status quo on the demolition drive in the north Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. The North Delhi Municipal Corporation conducted an anti-encroachment drive in Jahangirpuri area.
- GUJARAT : PM Modi inaugurates development projects worth Rs 22,000 crore at Adijati Maha Sammelan in Dahod, Gujarat on 20 Apr. This includes the manufacturing project of 9,000 HP Electric Locomotives at the Railway Production Unit in Dahod.
- J&K : Two persons were killed in the Uddak area of Ramnagar in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district after a bus skidded off the road on Wednesday.
- MADHYA PRADESH : At least four girls studying at a residential school run by religious leader Sadhvi Ritambhara drowned in a canal in Omkareshwar area of Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh. Police said that the incident took place when the girls went to take a bath along with other classmates in the morning. Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan condoled the death of the girls.
- MAHARASHTRA : PUNE At least 12 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at Kharadi on Wednesday. The blaze erupted in Ubale Nagar locality around 9.30 am and soon engulfed nearby shops.
- Amid a row over the use of loudspeakers near mosques, the Jamiat-Ulama-i-Hind unit in Maharashtra has appealed to all mosques to take permission from the state government in this regard.
- PUNJAB Police has summoned Congress leader Alka Lamba in connection with her alleged derogatory statements against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal before the Punjab state elections. After she received the summons, Lamba tweeted, saying she was not afraid of threats from AAP government in Punjab. This comes after former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas was booked by Punjab Police.
- TELANGANA : US-based Biliti Electric will invest $150 million to set up the world’s largest electric three-wheeler production facility in Telangana.
- WEST BENGAL : Adani Group Chairman and Founder Gautam Adani has announced that the company will invest around ₹10,000 crore in West Bengal in the next few years to create 25,000 jobs.
- New Appointment : Well-known physicist Ajay Kumar Sood was appointed as the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to the government.

- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said, reforms undertaken by India before and after the pandemic will ensure it remains one of the fastest-growing economies in the world in the decade ending 2030.
- Nissan is discontinuing Datsun brand in India, the company said on Wednesday. India was one of the last markets where Datsun was still operational after its global relaunch failed and it was discontinued in Russia and Indonesia in 2020.

- Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral R. Hari Kumar paid a three-day visit to Maldives which concluded on 20 Apr. During the visit, the Admiral called on Maldives President Mr Ibrahim Mohamad Solih and Maldives Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.
- During the period of pandemic, both countries have worked very closely, under Mission SAGAR and Operation Samudra Setu, towards resource mobilisation and movement of personnel.
- The sixth and the last of the Scorpene-class submarines of Project-75, INS Vagsheer, was launched in Mumbai. The submarine has been built by Mumbai-based Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited – MDL under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.
- Lieutenant General Manoj Kumar Katiyar has been appointed as the next Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). He will be taking over the new office on May 1.

- UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is scheduled to begin his two-day visit to India. He will visit Gujarat on April 21 and hold consultations with PM Narendra Modi on April 22.
- PM Modi wishes speedy recovery from COVID to his Italian counterpart Mario Draghi. Mr Draghi had tested positive for COVID following which he scrapped his trip to Africa.
- Energy Minister R. K. Singh held a meeting with Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland Mika Lintila in New Delhi.
- India to provide additional $500 million to Sri Lanka to buy fuel. India sent nearly 76,000 MT of fuel to Sri Lanka, taking the total supply of various types of fuels under Indian assistance to Sri Lanka to 2,70,000 MT.

- Russian President Vladimir Putin said Russia has successfully tested the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile,
saying the weapon capable of carrying nuclear charges will make enemies “think twice”. Dubbed Satan 2 by Western analysts, it’s among Russia’s next-generation missiles that Putin has called “invincible”. Weighing more than 200 tonnes, Putin said it can hit any target on Earth.
- Inflation in Russia rose to 17.62% as of April 15, its highest since 2002, the Economic Development Ministry said on Wednesday.
- German Finance Minister Christian Lindner on Wednesday said companies buying Russian natural gas shouldn’t have to set up ruble accounts to pay for it. “Contracts are based on dollars and euros and so private-sector companies should pay in dollars or euros,” Lindner said. Last month, Russian President Vladimir Putin had demanded “unfriendly countries” to pay for Russian gas in rubles.

Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur was the ninth of ten Gurus who founded the Sikh religion and the leader of Sikhs from 1665 until his beheading in 1675 on the orders of Aurangzeb, in front of a massive crowd. Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib in Chandni Chowk.
Muhi-ud-Din Muhammad, commonly known by the sobriquet Aurangzeb or by his regnal title Alamgir, was the sixth Mughal emperor, who ruled over almost the entire Indian subcontinent for a period of 49 years.
Aurangzeb imprison his father Shah jahan?
Accusing him of squandering the treasury on frivolous constructions. When the emperor became seriously ill in 1657, Aurangzeb began a two-year-long maneuvering for power. By 1658, he had eliminated his brothers, declared himself emperor and imprisoned his ailing father.
Aurangzeb was responsible for Shah Jahan’s death indirectly when he dethroned his father in 1658 on the grounds of illness. Despite Shah Jahan recovering, Aurangzeb still had him imprisoned until his death in 1666.
