- The Himachal Pradesh higher education department has warned teachers, unions and employees against criticising the government.
- Big news for SBI customers as bank issues alert for digital transactions : SBI has said that people must remain alert against the rapidly growing cases of banking fraud. The bank said in an alert that the customers must not keep any confidential information in their smartphone. SBI has warned that if you save your banking PIN, debit card, credit card information and its password, CVV, etc. in the mobile then you are more at risk of becoming a victim of digital fraud. According to SBI, you should delete all banking-related information from your mobile immediately.
- The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH India on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety signed an agreement on Technical Cooperation titled ‘Cities Combating Plastic Entering the Marine Environment’ at a virtual ceremony in New Delhi

- The Department of Consumer Affairs stressed upon all the States/ UTs to adopt zero tolerance against the hoarders so that the supplies of the essential commodities may be maintained during the curfews/ lockdowns imposed due to the pandemic.

State Health Minister Rajesh Tope informed that grocery shops will now function only for four hours between 7 am to 11 am every day. - Amid the rise in Covid-19 cases in the state of Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy held a review meeting during which it was decided to close all schools including the hostels and coaching centres from classes 1 to 9 from April 20 across the State. However, exams for Class 10 and Intermediate will be held as per schedule under strictly following the COVID-19 protocol
- Delhi 6-day lockdown: Delhi Metro issues new rules. In view of the Curfew imposed w.e.f. 10 PM yesterday i.e. 19th April 2021 till 5AM on 26 April 2021 by the Govt. for the containment of Covid-19 in NCT Delhi.
- The Rajasthan government has announced a 15-day lockdown starting from Monday and will continue till May 3.
- Metro services on the network during this period will be available as per following details:-
a. Services during morning (8 AM to 10 AM) and evening (5 PM to 7 PM) peak hours across the network will be available with a headway (frequency) of 30 minutes.
b. For rest of the hours of the day, services across the network will be available with a frequency of 60 min only.
- The Delhi Traffic Police had announced that many borders in Delhi were closed for traffic on Monday (April 19) due to protests held by the Kisan Andolan. According to the alert, Ghazipur border (from Ghaziabad towards Delhi), Singhu Border, Mungeshpur (Mungeshpur Border), Harewali Border and Tikri Border were closed.
- The Centre on Monday, has liberalised its vaccination strategy allowing all adults over the age of 18 to get the vaccination from May 1 as part of its push
- Centre approves Rs 4567 cr for Serum, Bharat Biotech to ramp up vaccine production
- The Bihar School Examination Board has decided to cancel as many as three exams in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the state. The examinations were scheduled to take place in the months of April and May. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar issued an order to extend the closure of schools, colleges, and other educational institutes till May 15.
- The Delhi government on Monday prepones the summer vacation in all schools in the national capital in view of the COVID-19 situation . The vacation which was scheduled from May 11 to June 3 has now been rescheduled from April 20 to June 9.
- Two unidentified militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter that broke out between militants and government forces in Zeipora village of Shopian district on Monday (April 19).
- The Indian Army came forward to support the Railways in transporting the oxygen laden trucks by providing its rolling stocks
- Indian Naval Air Squadron 323 (INAS 323), Navy’s first unit of the indigenously-built Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk III, was commissioned at INS Hansa, Goa.
- Indian Navy’s project to build nuclear-powered attack submarines (SSNs) is before the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) for approval, The programme, which involves the design and construction of six SSNs, each displacing around 6,000 tonnes, is likely to put the Indian Navy’s plan to build a 65,000-tonne indigenous aircraft carrier on the back burner.

- British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has cancelled his planned visit to India next week due to the coronavirus situation there , Downing Street announced on Monday, the day it was also confirmed that the country has been added to the United Kingdom’s COVID-19 travel ban “red list”.
- Pakistan on Monday banned travelers coming from India for the next two weeks, fearing the spillover of a new variant of the coronavirus from the neighboring country.
- India was being added to Britain’s “red list” of countries, banning all arrivals from India except for UK or Irish nationals.
