  2. Today Chanda Kochhar (former Chief Executive Officer of ICICI Bank ) husband Deepak Kochhar has moved to the Bombay High Court seeking quashing of the proceedings initiated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged ICICI Bank-Videocon money laundering case.

  9. On Friday The Calcutta High Court imposed costs of Rs 3.8 lakhs on the President of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education on finding there was an attempt to distort an earlier order of the Court to avoid complying with the same. 
  10. Today The Kerala High Court stated that in view of technological advancements, marriages under Special Marriage Act (SMA), 1954 could be registered though video conference.
  11. Today The Karnataka High Court held that courts need not obtain the consent of parties before referring a particular matter to either Lok Adalat or Mediation as per under section 89 of the Civil procedure Code [CPC].

Today The Supreme Court issued notice the Central government, four High Courts, the Bar Council of India (BCI) and Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) on a plea challenging the decision of the Uttarakhand High Court to revert to full physical functioning from August 24 to the exclusion of virtual mode of hearing cases.
  13. Today The Supreme Court declined to entertain a petition by certain residents of Sonepat in Haryana seeking directions to clear the Singhu Border currently occupied by farmers who are protesting against the Farm laws enacted by the Central government.

  16. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate courses for the year 2021 will be held as scheduled on September 12 after the Supreme Court today dismissed petitions seeking a deferment/ rescheduling of the exam.

Rajya Sabha member and Senior Advocate P Wilson has written to the Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju calling for the Central government’s support to pass laws for setting up regional Benches of the Supreme Court and for increasing the age of High Court Judges from the present 62 years to 65 years.
