Today The Supreme Court quashed the National Security Act (NSA) detention of a doctor accused of procuring fake Remdesevir injections in view of delays on the State’s part in deciding on a representation filed by the detenue-doctor and the failure to communicate the rejection of such representation.

  13. Yesterday The Bombay High Court has granted bail to Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood actor Shahrukh Khan and two other co-accused Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, in the cruise ship drug case subject to thirteen conditions are
    • furnish personal bond of ₹1 lakh and one or more sureties in the like amount;
    • should not leave the country without permission from special judge for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substance Act (NDPS Act) at Greater Mumbai;
    • should not leave Greater Mumbai without informing the investigating officer (IO) and should give itinerary of travel to IO;
    • should not indulge in similar activities;
    • should not try to establish communication with co-accused or any person involved in similar activities;
    • should not undertake any action which is prejudicial to the trial / proceedings before the special court;
    • should not attempt to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence;
    • should surrender passport before special court;
    • should not make any statement to media about the case;
    • attend office of Narcotics Control Bureau every Friday between 11 am and 2 pm to mark their presence;
    • should attend court on all dates;
    • should join investigation as and when called upon to do so before NCB authorities’
    • should not delay trial;
  14. There will be complete resumption of physical hearings in the Delhi High Court and in Delhi District Courts with effect from November 22, 2021.
  15. Today The Bombay High Court disposed of a plea challenging the amended Bar Council of India (BCI) Rules that prohibit lawyers from making indecent, derogatory, defamatory, motivated, malicious or mischievous statements against any court, judge, State Bar Council or the BCI.

  17. Today The Central Government has approved the appointment of Former Manipur High Court Chief Justice Ramalingam Sudhakar as the President of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT).

Today the Supreme Court ruled that a victim under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) or his dependent, should be mandatorily heard in any proceeding under the SC/ST Act as provided in Section 15A of the Act.
