  14. Today The Madras High Court clarified that when it comes to the taxation of contributions to Resident Welfare Associations (RWA), only those amounts in excess of Rs 7,500 per member per month are liable to be taxed under the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act.

  18. Yesterday The Calcutta High Court decided to extend the life of all interim orders passed by the High Court and courts subordinate to it, including the Tribunals within West Bengal and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, until August 20, 2021, in view of the COVID-19 situation in West Bengal.

Today The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has issued a notice to the Transport Department of Jammu & Kashmir government in a contempt plea filed by one Zahoor Ahmad Bhat against a circular issued by the government regarding re-registration and levy of road tax upon vehicles purchased from outside the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
  20. Today Even as Faridabad Municipal Corporation is continuing with the top court mandated Khori Gaon demolition in the forest areas of Aravalli, Priwasee Sangthan Welfare Society has moved Supreme Court seeking a stay on demolition of about 70,000 houses.
  21. Yesterday The Karnataka High Court noted that the State government may face a shortage of COVID-19 vaccines for those whose second doses will be due in the months of July and August.

  23. Today the Telangana High Court has upheld the detention order passed against a 22 year old accused of stalking women, voyeurism and allegedly inducing them to do nude video chats, that sexual violence against women is an unlawful intrusion into her right to privacy.
  24. Yesterday The Allahabad High Court denied Bail to the wife of Amar Dubey (hereinafter ‘K’) who was a close associate of Vikas Dubey, a gangster who is said to be the mastermind behind the killing of eight policemen in the Kanpur’s infamous Bikru encounter last year.
  25. Today The Himachal Pradesh High Court has denied bail to a 32 year old woman for allegedly indulging a minor girl into flesh trade with strangers, The Court observed that both the society and the State have failed to take responsibility in such cases.
  26. Today The Bar Council of India (BCI) has decided to extend the last date of registration for the All India Bar Exam (AIBE) XVI till 14th August 2021 and The payment for the same could be made by 20th August 2021.
  27. Today The Gujarat High Court has observed that an election candidate dying after the polls but before declaration of result will not be able to fill the seat and thus, the only remedy in such a situation would be to have a bye-election within the stipulated time period.
  28. Today The Allahabad High Court has reinstated a man back into his service by setting aside a dismissal order passed against him solely on the ground that he was maintaining a live in relationship outside his marriage.
  29. Today The Karnataka High Court directed the state government to place its decision on record of the court by July 22 on the proposal forwarded by the High Court Administration to allot vacant premises in the building of the Directorate Technical Education for shifting some of the sections of the offices of the High Court.
  30. Today The Special NIA Court rejecting Dalit Scholar Anand Teltumbde’s regular bail plea under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act has said it a fine balance has to be maintained between the societal interest and personal liberty of the accused while considering bail applications.
