- Today The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has terminated the service of a judicial officer Mohammad Yousuf Allai on the recommendation of the full court of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

- Today The Allahabad High Court has granted anticipatory bail to a man who allegedly performed nikah with a woman through Facebook call and later disowned her.

- Today The Allahabad High Court held that under the Hindu rituals and customs, putting vermilion on the forehead of a woman by a man (Mangbharai ceremony) conveys a man’s promise and intention to marry the woman, which is sufficient enough for a woman to believe that he would in fact, marry her.
- Today The Delhi High Court has directed the South Delhi Municipal Corporation and the Delhi Police to conduct a joint inspection and submit a report highlighting the unauthorized construction and occupation in the entire Kalkaji Temple complex.

- Yesterday The Delhi High Court refused to stay the notification issued by the Central Government allowing import of 12 Lakh Metric ton of crushed and de-oiled Genetically Modified soya cake (only Non-living organism) used for poultry purposes.
- Yesterday Social Activist-Advocate Nutan Thakur, the wife of ex-IPS Officer Amitabh Thakur, was granted Anticipatory Bail by a Lucknow Court in a case registered against her for allegedly assaulting cops and obstructing government work when police personnel went to arrest her husband Thakur on charges of ‘abetting’ suicide of rape victim, her friend.
- Yesterday The Delhi High Court sought response of the Centre on a plea challenging provisions of Recovery of Debts and Bankruptcy Act, 1993 regarding appointment of Recovery Officers in Debt Recovery Tribunal.
- Today The Karnataka High Court held that once the police invoke Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, the Magistrate court has no power to extend custody beyond 90 days and only the Special Court constituted under the UAPA Act has the power to extend the detention beyond 90 days.
- Today The Jharkhand High Court has taken suo moto cognizance of two elephant deaths in the state and has subsequently sought a response from the government in the matter.
- Today The Gauhati High Court observed that section 4 of the Special Marriage Act does not save a second marriage contracted by a Muslim male with a Hindu woman, and thus it would be void.
- Today A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition has been moved challenging the decision of the Election Commission of India to ‘prioritize the bye-elections of Bhowanipore Assembly Constituency’ from where, the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee is set to contest on September 30.
- Today The Delhi High Court has issued directions for the purpose of conducting elections for Delhi Capital Badminton Association after observing that the ultimate aim of the said exercise is to ensure that the elections are conducted in a smooth manner.
- Yesterday A Delhi Court on Friday took Cognizance of the chargesheet filed by the Delhi Police in the alleged gang-rape and murder of a 9-years-old girl in Delhi cantt area.
- Today The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has held that a re-married widow has a right to her deceased husband’s property, if she was not re-married when the husband passed away The term used by the Court to describe this situation was “the day the succession opens.”
- Today The Madhya Pradesh High Court held that getting the consent of the prosecutrix to involve in a sexual act, by making false promise of re-employment, can’t be called ‘free consent’ and it would amount to consent obtained under a misconception of fact (as per Section 90 of IPC).
- The Supreme Court observed that the trees have to be valued separately in a case where the land value for the purpose of its acquisition is determined with reference to the sales statistics.
- Toda The Central government has cleared appointment of judicial and technical member to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) and the Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) few days after the Supreme Court had warned of contempt of court action against the government officers for mounting vacancies.
