73rd Republic Day in India
This year, We are celebrating 73rd Republic Day in India on 26th January 2022.
The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the Rajpath before the President of India. On this day, ceremonious parades take place at the Rajpath, which are performed as a tribute to India; its unity in diversity and rich cultural heritage.
We (India) celebrate Republic Day on the 26th of January every year to mark the day on which our constitution came into effect in 1950 after this day our country truly become democratic and sovereign state. While India got independence on 15th August 1947 from British raj but on this day India became Republic.
The Constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949, and came into effect on 26 January 1950 with a democratic government system, completing the country’s transition towards becoming an independent republic.
There is a reason behind we celebrate Republic Day on 26 January in 1930. This day Indian National Congress (INC) proclaimed the declaration of Purna Swaraj (complete independence) rejecting the dominion status offered by the British Raj.
It is a day that has been declared as a national holiday. People all across the country celebrate this day, they hoist the flag and organize events. The President of the country raises the national flag on the Rajpath in New Delhi. People from all over the country visit the Rajpath. On this day to witness the grand celebration of Republic Day.
